@taiwan_girl said in The Pallet Scam?: I actually like the style of the kitchen table more vs. the dining table. But both are very nice. Yeah, but look at the work on the dining table.

Cant read the article, but have heard of things like that. Similar "camps" are in Cambodia and Laos. If you get a scam test on your cell phone/WhatsApp/LINE, etc that starts off like they know you, "Hey, haven't heard from you in a while. Just wanted to check and see how things were going." When you respond saying it is the wrong number, they will apologize and start to make conversation to draw you in. Eventually, they try to somehow get money. A common one is investing in crypto. I was able to talk to one of the scammers for a while. They were actually based in Thailand and were trying to get people to invest in a crypto "wallet". They supposedly got 20% of what the person invested. They eventually stopped talking to me, but I was curious if they were in a "camp" or something else.

While most of the left-of-center professors, administrators and students might walk off the fabled campus en masse, that might be the best thing to happen to Harvard in decades. Wouldn't that be wonderful!

@George-K said in Chumbolones: @taiwan_girl said in Chumbolones: would say that China is in much worse shape now than when President Biden was elected. I don't think people here will disagree. But, is it because of Biden? Well, I suppose it depends on how much power a person believes the president has to influence US policy. LOL You guys know my thoughts on this economically - I dont think that the president has as much influence as people say. Foreign policy, I think they do have a bit more power in this area. But it is really just shows the politic divide. President Trump does something good during his term pro Trump - happened BECAUSE of him anti Trump - happened DESPITE him President Biden does something good during his term pro Biden - happened BECAUSE of him anti Biden - happened DESPITE him I think it is good that we have these (mainly LOL) civil politic debate here on this forum. One of the reasons I like it so much. But, we all show are biases here also. During President Trump's term, the unemployment rate could have dropped to 0%, inflation to 0%, salaries increased 10% per year, and some people would have still complained.

Black children are simply not safe in Joe Biden's America.

I need to get the latest Covid vax. But not really worried about it. Covid et al are still affecting our lives. A lifetime friend's mother's service was yesterday. We decided not to go due to the stuff going around. Going to Vegas Thursday and did not want to risk it.

I wouldn’t call that normal prepper behavior. His risk of being targeted is many orders of magnitude more than others.

@Doctor-Phibes said in The Revolt: @Aqua-Letifer said in The Revolt: It used to be, publishing was to blame for most of it. The self-help/daily-schedule-to-greatness section of the bookstore is one of the most competitive in terms of submissions. What people really like to hear is how complex problems can be easily solved by a framework that has a simple name. MBA dipshits read these books instead of real ones and it all trickles down from there. I was once forced to read a book entitled 'Who moved my cheese?', which I was informed was a profound piece of philosophical thinking. What it actually was was some dickhead writing this great long-winded parable about a bunch of fucking rodents, with the final message 'change happens, you need to accept it and move on'. Apparently this book has sold 30 million copies. I do know they gave one to every single person in the company. Anyway, my friend in sales opened his next meeting with the question 'OK, who cut the cheese?' I was given the same book and was told the very same about it. I remember thinking the intended readership must be 5th graders.

Yup. I think you mentioned this before that the % of adminstration positions in colleges has increased a lot over the past few years.
